Watching wildlife well
The animals here are wild, and they keep coming back because the property is quiet. A few habits help.
- Stay on the verandah or lawn at dusk and let the wombats come to you.
- Please don't feed any animals. Bread and pellets make wombats and kangaroos sick.
- Use a dim or red torch after dark. A spotlight in the eyes stops them in their tracks.
- Drive the valley roads slowly at dawn and dusk, when kangaroos and wombats cross.
Nearby
Bendeela picnic ground on the Kangaroo River is known for wombats grazing in the open late in the afternoon. Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park is good for lyrebirds and birdwatching.
